LOZA is a handwoven Moroccan runner rug inspired by a historic Middle Atlas textile and its rich geometric vocabulary. Its composition reinterprets the lozenges, zigzags, chevrons and repeating geometric borders found in traditional Amazigh weaving, transforming them into a contemporary wool runner while preserving the rhythm and character of the original craft.
The name LOZA is inspired by the lozenge — the diamond-shaped motif that appears repeatedly in historic Middle Atlas textiles and forms chains and lattices throughout their woven compositions.
Woven entirely by hand by skilled artisans, this geometric runner rug celebrates the precision and artistry of traditional weaving. Its detailed pattern makes every section of the rug part of the design rather than simple decoration.
The historic reference behind LOZA is documented in Bruno Barbatti's study Tapis berbères du Maroc: La symbolique, origines et signification (ACR Édition, 2006), which examines motifs including the lozenge, zigzag, chevron, serpent and trident within Berber rug traditions and discusses parallels with much older geometric forms found in prehistoric art. These comparisons point to a long visual vocabulary; they do not mean that the rug itself or its exact design dates to prehistoric times.
